Residents brought bikes and scooters to Filwood Broadway to decorate them with lights and reflectors for the Filwood Glow Parade this evening. The whole Broadway was closed to traffic to allow cyclists the freedom of the road. From toddlers to octogenarians - visitors enjoyed racing round the circuit, refreshments and activities. Despite plummeting temperatures there was a good turnout - with people suitably wrapped up for the occasion. The event was organised by Community Public Health to bring local people together and help to promote cycling and walking.
Come joun us until 6pm today
Filwood Hope Advice Centre hosted a tea party fundraiser today, selling beautiful homemade cakes and other home crafted items in order to raise money for their centre and also to get to know their local residents a bit better. Emma, the HR manager, said how pleased she was to meet new people and to find out about other projects happening in the area. The centre is hoping to recruit some more volunteers this summer too, so if you are interested in getting involved, please contact Pearl or Emma on 0117 963 4566.

A big thanks to Knowle West Children's Centre for hosting our latest MemoryScapes workshop/ drop-in. We had a whopping 38 people attend, including parents, staff and children, as well as 4 of our existing members and other local residents. As ever, some hilarious stories were shared and new photographs were brought in and looked at, people in photos were identified and two participants even found out that they were distantly related! If you have anything that you would like to contribute to the installation, please contact me and I would be happy to scan it or take photos of it. Thanks Knowle West, What a great morning!
