Inns Court Playground Opened

Local parents and children came to celebrate the long-awaited opening of a new playground in Knowle West - complete with carved tree sculpture. The Inns Court Playground was opened by Bristol Mayor George Ferguson. It took a year for Bristol City Council to plan in consultation with local people and six weeks to construct - and is already proving a hit with young families during the school holidays. The sculpted giant redwood tree was created by wood carver Andy O'Neill using a chain saw - and took ten days to complete.

Shaun the Sheep at Broadwalk

If you want to see a Shaun the Sheep, the closest one to Knowle West is in Broadwalk Shopping Centre. "Frank" has been designed by the Royal Mail - and is covered in different coloured postage stamps. He's attracting shoppers throughout the day and happy to pose for photos. Frank is one of a flock of 70 sculptures placed all round Bristol for the Shaun in the City charity arts trail - which runs from 6 July to 31 August.

Do you want your own bespoke Memory Chest or reminiscence workshop?

After MemoryScapes success over the past few months, KWMC has decided to create bespoke memory chests and reminiscence workshops for local community groups. So, if you work for an organisation that supports people with dementia, or you know a group of older people or young people who might be interested in exploring the history of Bristol through a sensory reminiscence experience, please get in touch with me. lucinda.thelwell@kwmc.org.uk, 01179030444
